Objective: Students
will be able to describe items characters carry with them in order to make
inferences about those characters.
Do-Now: Take
out THREE items you are carrying with you today. List each item and explain what inferences
can be made about you based on each item.
Today: 1) Tangible vs. Intangible
2) Class will begin reading "The Things They Carried" and completing an inference chart for the characters based on the items they are carrying.
Exit Slip: Describe how you can make an inference about a character based on what he/she is carrying. What
do you feel was the most interesting item a character carried with him so far in the story? What made this item so interesting?
