Do-Now: 

Describe how Amir and Hassan's relationship changed after the incident.  Why do you believe Amir pushes Hassan away, even though Amir is at fault?  Why do you believe Amir doesn't apologize to Hassan?

Today: 1) Go over questions for Chapters 8-9

2) Class will read Chapter 10 and complete the review questions for the chapter

Homework: Read Chapter 11 and complete the review questions for the chapter

Wednesday, January 8

Do-Now: Why do you believe Amir doesn’t try to help Hassan when he sees him in the alley?  What does this show you about Amir?  What would you have done if you were in Amir’s place?

Exit Slip: Describe how Hassan and Amir’s friendship has changed.  What can you infer about Amir based on his treatment of Hassan?  What can you infer about Hassan based on his treatment of Amir?

2) Continue working on review questions for Chapters 5-7 of "The Kite Runner."

Objective: Students will be able to characterize Amir and Hassan’s friendship in order to make inferences about each of the characters.

Do-Now: Write about your initial impressions of "The Kite Runner."

Today: 1) Go over questions for Chapters 1-4 of "The Kite Runner"

2) Class will read Chapter 5 of "The Kite Runner" and complete the review questions for the chapter.

3) Individually, read Chapter 6 of "The Kite Runner" and complete the review questions for the chapter.

Exit Slip: 

Characterize Amir and Hassan’s friendship.  Are they really friends or is Hassan simply Amir’s servant?  What problems have arisen because of their friendship?  What problems may still occur?
