Objective: Students will be able to describe how Amir and Hassan’s friendship has changed in order to make inferences about each of the characters.

Do-Now: Why do you believe Amir doesn’t try to help Hassan when he sees him in the alley?  What does this show you about Amir?  What would you have done if you were in Amir’s place?

Today: 1) Go over questions for Chapters 5-7 of "The Kite Runner."

2) Class will read Chapter 8 of "The Kite Runner" and complete the review questions for the chapter.

3) Begin reading Chapter 9 of "The Kite Runner" and begin the review questions for the chapter.

Exit Slip: Describe how Hassan and Amir’s friendship has changed.  What can you infer about Amir based on his treatment of Hassan?  What can you infer about Hassan based on his treatment of Amir?

Homework: Finish reading Chapter 9 of "The Kite Runner" and finish the review questions for the chapter.
