Objective: Students will be able to evaluate evidence in "The Giver" in order to determine if Jonas' society represents a utopia or dystopia.

Do-Now: How would you describe snow to someone who has never seen it before?  How would you describe color to someone who was blind?

Today: 1) Review Exit Slips from Wednesday

2) Go over questions for Chapters 10 and 11

3) Class will read Chapter 12 and complete the review questions for the chapter.

4) Begin reading Chapter 13 and begin completing the review questions for the chapter.

Exit Slip: Why do you believe Jonas' world has no color?  How might the presence of color affect the community's ability to maintain a utopia?  Is the absence of color a utopic or dystopic element?  Explain.

Homework: Finish reading Chapter 13 and complete the review questions for the chapter.
