Objective: Students will be able to review the class rules and expectations in order to prepare themselves for the new semester.  Students will be able to complete an anticipation guide on "The Giver" in order to make predictions about what may occur in the book.

Do-Now: Read over the class syllabus and write down TWO questions you have about this class.

Today: 1) Review Syllabus for Reading

2) Reading Speed Chart

3) Anticipation Guide #1 for "The Giver"

4) Discuss answers for Anticipation Guide

5) Y-Chart: What do you control?  List at leave FIVE items in each of the three sections (a total of FIFTEEN items or more.)

Exit Slip: Based on the statements in the Anticipation Guide for "The Giver," make THREE predictions about what may happen in the book.

Homework: Bring in a notebook for class by MONDAY!!!
