Objective: SWBAT: Examine the themes of racial and social bias in a novel and apply those themes to their own lives.

Do-Now: 

Complete Warm-Up for Chapters #24-27 from your packet.

Today: 1) Review questions from 20-23.  Share-out chapter titles.

2) Class will read Chapters 24 & 25 together and begin answering the review questions.

3) Individually or in pairs, read Chapters 26 & 27 and finish answering the review questions.

Exit Slip: If you were Maleeka, would you tell on Charlese and the twins?  Why or why not?  Explain.  What do you believe is Maleeka's motivation for keeping the truth a secret?

Homework: Written Reflection: Write about a time when you took the blame for something you didn't do (or a time someone took the blame for you.)  Who were you protecting?  Why did you choose to protect this person?  Do you regret your decision?  Reflection should be at least TEN sentences long and is worth 20 points: 10 points for length, 5 points for description, 5 points for self-reflection.)
