Wednesday, September 11

Objective: SWBAT distinguish between important and minor information in an article.  SWBAT predict the major events of a book by examining key words.

Do-Now: Recall yesterday's article.  If you were a teacher in the school district of Philadelphia, would you rather take a pay cut or deal with larger class sizes, less support staff and fewer resources? Explain your choice.

Today: 1) Review the first half of the article from yesterday.  What key facts have we highlighted so far?

2) Individually or in pairs, read the remaining two pages of the article and highlight AT LEAST FIVE more key facts.

3) "The Skin I'm In" Word Splash

Exit Slip: Look at the key facts you highlighted from the article.  List what you consider to be the THREE most important facts and explain why you feel they are the most significant.
