Objective: Students will be able to analyze the change in Alfred’s character in order to make inferences and predictions about him.

Do-Now: Alfred has a steady job, but little or no opportunity for advancement.  Without an education his choices are limited.  What are his options now?  What might he do if his boxing career doesn’t work?  Where might he eventually end up?

Today: 1) Exit Slip from Wednesday

2) Go over questions for Chapter 3 and 4 of "The Contender."

3) Class will read Chapter 5 of "The Contender" and complete the review questions for the chapter.

4) Begin reading Chapter 6 and begin the review questions for the chapter.

Exit Slip: How is Alfred beginning to change?  What can you infer about him based on these changes?  What can you predict about his future behavior?

Homework: Finish Chapter 6 and complete the review questions for the chapter.
