Objective: Students will be able to examine Alfred’s transformation into a contender in order to predict whether or not he will succeed.

Do-Now: 

What do you believe motivates Alfred to succumb to peer pressure?  Do you think his night of partying will lead him off the path to success as a boxer?  Explain why or why not.

Today: 1) Go over questions for Chapters 10 and 11 of "The Contender."

2) Class will read Chapter 12 of "The Contender" and complete the review questions for the chapter.

3) Begin reading Chapter 13 of "The Contender" and begin completing the review questions for the chapter.

Exit Slip: What do you believe motivated Alfred to quit boxing?  Do you believe this was the best decision for him?  Explain why or why not.

Homework: Finish reading Chapter 13 of "The Contender" and finish the review questions for the chapter.
